WPP
This was fun!
I had worked with WPP earlier in my career when developing my Wedgwood collections and their team at The Partners proposed the “Wedgwouldn’t…?” campaign – a brilliant piece of witty and intelligent marketing.
So, when they approached me with a commission to design the Diamond Jubilee teapot for HRH The Queen I was pretty chuffed and loved the whole process.
We worked on the crown using 3D CAD and printing techniques to ‘map’ the real thing and then make a miniature version in gold to which we then added diamonds, meanwhile we made the body & spout in Sterling Silver with the best Sheffield craftsmen.
We tested the finished item to make sure it brewed and poured as only a teapot fit for a queen should and although nobody knows if it ever gets used at Royal tea parties it stands in its own glass box in Buckingham Palace, ready to do service whenever the call should come from on high?
As a footnote, I then designed a miniature ‘tea-ball’ which is quite a bit cheaper, so everyone can join the party!
