Russian

The Cyrillic alphabet is a thing of beauty and profound cultural significance across Eurasia.

Surprisingly it seems to get very little attention in the West except perhaps for occasional homage to Russian constructivist artworks or possibly Soviet space technology.

I am really interested in Russian design, science and culture, and have huge respect for all things from Faberge eggs to Soyuz rockets to Tolstoy so was keen to explore the possibilities of using the Cyrillic script as a decorative inspiration for Crystal martini glasses – Vodka martinis of course!

I had the Crystal made by Nazeing glass and we then effectively silver-plated each piece to produce the unique silver/gold finish which was an ever-so-glamorous market ‘first’ and my own homage to the opulence of 19th Century Russian Crystal.
