My Dad was a man of the garage and always kept his neat & tidy with tools and tackle in tip-top fettle.

Amongst the tools, benches and materials I one day found an antique bicycle pump from his youth – like me he was never too good at ‘editing’ things from his earlier life! It was a bit dusty and rather tarnished but it had an elegance and simplicity that I loved, and it still worked perfectly after 50 years of service!

So when I came to design my first cafetière I needed to look no further for inspiration than that old pump in my old man’s garage.
